What’s this podcast all about?
As two twenty-something young professionals, we found ourselves refusing to grow out of young adult novels. Instead of treating our love of these masterpieces of melodramatic literature as a guilty pleasure, we’ve decided to embrace it.
Wine and YA is our very own boozy book-club turned podcast where we can rant, rave, laugh, cry, and critique all things YA (accompanied by generous amounts of alcohol).
So embrace the guilty pleasure with us, grab a drink, and listen along as navigate our way through the romantic, epic and trope-laden books we just can’t stop ourselves from reading.
Who Are We?
We have been friends since sophomore year of college when we bonded over our secret love of the Vampire Academy series. After college, we spent several years living in Washington, DC working, drinking and reading slightly more about magic and love triangles than politics and policy. Now, we’ve both moved to New York and are patiently waiting for our Urban Fantasy action dreams to come true.
Emily
Emily is originally from Minnesota and now lives in Brooklyn, New York with her fiancé and one-eyed cat while working a day job in the media industry. She started reading YA in elementary school, falling in love with historical fiction (shout out to 16th Century England) and Tamora Pierce’s Tortall books. She’s still a sucker for epic YA high fantasy and a proud shipper of any pairing that involves a hot villain. Her drink of choice is a red wine or expensive tequila tragically out of her budget.
Christina
Christina is a New Hampshire native now living in New York. Like many other millennials, her first literary love was the Harry Potter series. An avid fan of all things fantasy and epic, but far from a hopeless romantic, she has a reluctant, albeit unshakable love of YA fantasy – equal parts reveling in and rolling her eyes at the genre’s stereotypes and romantic entanglements. She welcomes most cheap wines but always enjoys Malbec or Chardonnay.
